Written by: Lauran Hahn, LMHC

Welcome back to our blog series, where we continue to spotlight the remarkable individuals shaping the well-being of our Orlando community. Last week we featured the Jill Haire Institute! Again, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to all those dedicated souls who tirelessly nurture the mind, body, and spirit of others. Your unwavering efforts are truly appreciated as you play a pivotal role in helping our community members lead healthier, happier, and more fulfilling lives.

Through this series, our goal remains steadfast: to highlight the incredible endeavors taking place right here in Orlando and honor those who are effecting meaningful change. Through engaging interviews and insightful discussions, we'll continue to shed light on the invaluable contributions that are shaping our beloved community. Today, we're excited to showcase Chris Maes owner of Fusion Regenerative Therapies!

Can you please introduce yourself and provide an overview of your role in our community?

My name is Chris Maes and I am the Chief Visionary and Founder of Fusion Regenerative Therapies and a practitioner. My role in the Orlando community is to educate and heal as many people as I can with our Holistic, Body, Mind, and Spirit approach.

I also strive to collaborate with as many other businesses in the area as for strength is in numbers and lastly to volunteer in as many charities in the Orlando area as we can!

What inspired you to dedicate your life's work to nurturing the mind, body, and spirit of individuals in Orlando?

Half of my heritage is Native American and it’s a sacred Native way. My mom instilled in me a fascination and passion for the anatomy and physiology of the human body. Working as a practitioner for over 10 years in the traditional allopathic model I saw firsthand the staunch bureaucracy that limits practitioners on treatments that they can do with their patients. Often not curing the symptoms and resulting in the patient getting sicker or even hurt.

When I became a patient who suffered from chronic severe lower back pain I stayed in that state for a few months with 10/10 pain developing significant nerve damage to my right leg resulting in the loss of control of my right foot. At this point in my life, I was considering suicide. I didn’t want to die however I wasn’t gonna live like that and I sure wasn’t going to get any of the surgeries I had treated as a Physical Therapist Assistant in the hospital because that was a slow miserable journey to a wheelchair and no real relief.

One night crying and praying I got up and searched the internet for alternative treatments for low back disc herniation, I had three. This is where I discovered stem cells which I have never heard of before. After hours of looking at the research and finding the best clinic in the United States, I flew to Colorado and received a miracle. Stem Cell injections completely took all my symptoms away. I cried tears of joy for days and could not believe the relief. That was 15 years ago and ever since then, I have been on a quest to provide miracles like those to as many people as I can.

Could you share some specific initiatives or programs you are involved in that contribute to the health and well-being of our community members?

We like to keep this private however I will tell you we do something for the youth of the community and for a very special charity in town called One Heart.

How do these initiatives address the unique needs and challenges faced by individuals in Orlando?

The city of Orlando is an amazing city with lots of opportunity and goodness here which attracts a lot of people! A challenge Orlando faces is homelessness which is caused by various situations. At Fusion Regenerative Therapies we have a special place in our hearts for the homeless population because of our nature and my experience of being homeless at one point in my life.

Can you describe a recent success story or memorable moment that highlights the positive impact of your work on the lives of community members?

We have one homeless man we have been caring for and he cares for us. He is like family at this point. He lives in his car and it often breaks down so we help him get it fixed. It feels so good better than any paycheck really. Of course, he pays us back with money he has earned from working or by helping us out.

Are there any upcoming projects or goals you're excited about that will further benefit the Orlando community?

We are in the process of launching our charity and doing some community health fairs.

How can individuals in our community get involved or support your mission?

They can come on board as a health coach, practitioner, patient services, or join us on one of our volunteering ventures.

What is your favorite mental health quote, tidbit, or mantra?

“We say Heal The Body with The Body.” or “ Pay now or pay later but you're gonna pay!”
