A robust self-care plan is so important to the wellness of your mind, body, and spirit. In our last blog post, Orlando Therapist Shares Importance of Self-Care, where I explore how having a self-care plan allows you to regulate your nervous system and sets you up to bring the best you to your family, friends, and work.

In this article, we are interviewing Dede Ramos, Owner and Master Instructor at The Body Lab Pilates. The Body Lab Pilates was recommended to us by another therapist who said this is her zen place.

What is the most frequent compliment you get about your space for self-care? 

We are most frequently complimented about our high level of instruction.  We are highly certified instructors with years of training and personal practice.  Each session is designed specifically for the individual client. Considerations are made for each client based on their personal fitness goals being mindful of any injuries or limitations that a client may have. 

Why is pilates such a helpful self-care practice?

Pilates can offer so many benefits that enhance a person’s day-to-day life. With learning to focus and add intention for each exercise, the workout becomes more than just strengthening the body and getting fit.  Learning Pilates breathing techniques can calm and regulate the nervous system so that the muscles can work more efficiently and in return, the client gets a deeper, more meaningful workout session.

Why is your business a great self-care spot for people with anxiety?

As mentioned above, pilates helps to regulate the nervous system, so people with anxiety leave feeling more at ease and relaxed.

In addition, The Body Lab Pilates is a welcoming and warm environment where clients can move their bodies without judgment or worry.  Many thoughts, ideas, laughs, and sometimes tears are shared in this beautiful space.  It has become a sanctuary for many clients to feel at ease while becoming stronger both physically and mentally.

When is the most chill time to visit?

All the time!

A good Pilates workout of course!  I also like to run, dance, see the ocean, get a facial, massage, and journal.

Dede Ramos is the founder and Master Instructor for The Body Lab Pilates. Dede’s background includes a professional career in Dance, Kinesiology, Massage Therapy, and Personal Training. She received her Pilates certification through Stott Pilates and is certified in all advanced coursework and training on the Reformer, Mat, Cadillac, Chair, Ladder Barrel, and Injuries & Special Populations. Dede Is also certified in the TRX suspension trainer and Barre certified with Barre Above. With over 22 years of experience in the Pilates method, Dede is passionate and excited to share her knowledge and expertise with every client she meets.
